SANGUEM: The narrow road proceeding to Xelpem Industrial Estate at Sanguem needs immediate improvement and widening given the increase in traffic on the Dando-Xelpem route since past two years.

The narrow village road, was constructed several years ago, was meant for the movement of limited vehicles, but ever since big factories as that of Pepsi, Shritik Ispat and Albys Agro have come up at the Industrial Estate, the traffic on the Xelpem route has increased manifold and there is an urgent need of widening the road.

The road is very narrow at many places and the two culverts at Cotarli village are also reportedly too weak to carry the load of heavy transport vehicles transporting raw material and finished goods from the industries located at the Industrial Estate.

Since last year, with the opening of Pepsi and Albys Agro, the villagers are witnessing severe problems in using the narrow village road. Big trucks finding it difficult to use the road given the trees which adorn the narrow road on both sides. 

Besides, the electric cables which hang low at many places are also causing hindrance for the movement of six and eight wheeler vehicles, claimed a villager.
