MARGAO: Condemning the installation of a massive decorative arch depicting the colours of the National Flag on a footpath outside a casino in Panjim, Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao urged the North Goa Collector to get the structure removed and to take action against those responsible.

He alleged that it is a shame on the part of the BJP government for allowing the construction of the arch.

"Our National Flag is the pride of every patriotic Indian. It is shocking that the administration has turned a blind eye on a gambling den which is a centre for illegal activities using these colours to erect an illegal entrance arch,” Alemao said.

He said, “Ahead of Independence Day of India, the fake patriotism and nationalism of the BJP government is getting exposed almost on a daily basis with their own leaders exposing the disrespect shown towards the Tiranga and the National Anthem.”   Alemao demanded that the government ban the casinos from using the national flag and symbols.
