VASCO: Ward No 7 residents from Zuarinagar, which was recently declared as the containment zone, protested over several problems such as irregular supply of  essential items, lack of money in ATMs, no mass COVID testing in the containment zone etc.

The district administrative officers assured the locals to convey their issues with the top government officials.

According to reliable sources, around 200 residents of Ward 7 from Zuarinagar gathered near the barricades and listed out several complaints to the district administrative officers on Sunday morning.

Sources informed that the residents complained of no cash in the ATMs, irregular supply of essential commodities, no mass testing for COVID of the residents from the containment zone, insufficient medicines at the local pharmacies during their interaction with the officers.

The locals in the group also questioned as to why a specific building was not included in the containment zone despite being located in Ward No 7. They asked as to why some people, who have tested negative, are not allowed to move out.

Mamalatdar Krishna Gawas and Viraj Banaulikar gave a patient hearing to the residents’ grievances.

Both officials assured residents that they will convey their grievances to the District Collector and that they will be informed soon.

Later, the mob dispersed following assurances from the administrative officers.
