Nigerian held with drugs

ANJUNA: Anjuna police arrested a Nigerian national on charges of possessing drugs worth Rs 34,000 at Ozrant-Vagator. According to police, the accused, Obana Michael, was caught red-handed in possession of narcotic drugs, suspected to be cocaine, worth Rs 34,000. The Nigerian national has been arrested by Anjuna police under Section 21 (b) of NDPS Act.

Two injured in Ponda accident

PONDA: A 36-year-old man from Varkhandem-Ponda and a 14-year-old boy were injured in a road accident at Upper Bazzar, Ponda, on Thursday. According to police, Suhas Naik, who was proceeding on his two-wheeler, and the minor boy, who was riding a motorcycle, collided head-on at Upper Bazaar, Ponda. Naik sustained serious injuries to his leg. 


Russian robbed at Candolim

CALANGUTE: Camera and tablet PC, belonging to a Russian national, were stolen at Candolim on Thursday. According to Calangute police, Katsko Ekhter Ima Vladislar, Russian national, presently staying at Candolim, complained that some persons entered her room and stole camera and tablet PC, all worth around 200 US dollars. Police is investigating the case.

Navelim consumers’ meet today

MARGAO: The Navelim Civic and Consumer Forum (NCCF) will have its monthly general meeting of consumers on January 18, at 10.45 am in Rosary High School classroom, Navelim. The movement of bauxite mining trucks through Navelim, the proposed 4 laning of road from Navelim to Jackniband, proposal of a commercial building in church property along with other consumer issues will be discussed. Senior Citizen forms will also be filled up. 

Two injured in Sanguem mishap

SANGUEM: A scooterist and a pillion rider were injured in a road accident near Sanguem police station. According to Sanguem police, Bharat Lambor (25) of Devrem-Neturlim was proceeding on his scooter (GA-09-F-3701) from Sanguem market towards Uguem. On reaching near Sanguem police station, he dashed against a car (GA-09-A-8421) which was also proceeding in the same direction, due to which Lambor and pillion rider, Janu Zoro, sustained injuries.

VASCO: The Mormugao Jestha Natya Sahittik Kalakar Sanghatana and Mormugao Hindu Samaj have organised a condolence meet on January 21, at 5.30 pm, at Janta Vachnalaya at MMC building, Vasco, to condole the demise of Mandatai Narayan Bandekar, wife of industrialist Narayan (Nana) Bandekar.
