Margao: Reacting to Herald’s spot report on people sneaking out of the Monte Hill containment zone, the Superintendent of Police (SP) South Goa has asked the Margao Town police to take corrective actions in the matter.

Herald had reported with photos how the people from the containment zone of Moti Dongor started sneaking out taking hidden routes. These people were entering into the market areas and travelling in public transport putting a large number of people at risk.South Goa SP Pankaj Gupta has taken details pinpointing locations of these spots from where the people are seen leaving the Monte Hill. He has entrusted the Margao Town Police to check on these places. The Margao Town Police inspector Sachin Narvenkar said that he will be soon checking the site and taking necessary action to discourage the acts of the people. He also added that there may be likelihood that they are people from the areas, which are not contained. However, the act of the people sneaking out has raised suspicion.

On Monday, the Health Officials collected 723 swab samples from Moti Dongor containment areas and have sent them for testing. With this, the entire containment zone populace has been covered and the reports are awaited. However, when Herald ventured to the same areas on Monday, there was not much buzz around. The people too have said that the news has made them more alert to make sure they are away from the infection.

Sadly, the police on duty have been left craving for drinking water, toilet facilities and food at times. The police posted at the three entry points have been spending from their pockets for water and food.
