MARGAO: On the day that Herald did an in-depth reportage on what people are calling a “beast in uniform” PSI Stanley Gomes, who brutally assaulted and ruptured the eardrum of an innocent Edwin Coelho, the villagers of Shirvodem, Navelim have demanded that the PSI Stanley Gomes should be terminated from the job immediately.

On Sunday villagers gathered at Shirvodem and demanded action against the PSI, before he targets other innocent youth. They informed that they will be forced to take legal action against the PSI Stanley, and hence they will approach court in the next few days. People want justice to be done by the Court.

Meanwhile, victim Edwin Coelho has requested the police officials for the CCTV footage.

The victim has moved an application before the Superintendent of Police and urged for the CCTV footage.

"Please give me the footage of the incident that took place inside the police station on November 23, at around 23.30 hours”, the letter stated.

Dezy Vaz, cousin of victim Edwin Coelho claimed that this is not the first incident of brutally assaulting the people by PSI Stanley. "There are several incidents wherein the PSI was involved in targeting innocent people. We have even witnessed his interference in the programmes organized by the youth and locals", she alleged.

She further said the livelihood of the Coelho family has been badly affected due to this incident and now, there is no one to look after them.

"We are not ready to settle on the suspension of the PSI but we want his termination from the police department", Dezy demanded.

Many other villagers and close friends of the victim have also demanded that PSI should be terminated immediately, and they will not tolerate such an attitude of police in near future.
