‘New noise pollution regulation unreasonable’

‘New noise pollution regulation unreasonable’

I see that the issue of noise pollution is rearing its head again. I’m a tourist that has been coming to Goa loyally for the past 15 years except for during Covid-19 pandemic and I’d like to take this opportunity to express my point of view.

I agree that there should be some noise controls as nobody wants to be kept awake all night but regulations should be within reason.

People do visit to enjoy themselves and expect some entertainment in the evenings and bringing in a 10 pm curfew would destroy that.

I remember when that was tried before some years back, the shack owners stopped wanting to put on live music nights if they had to end at 10 and it made any parties impossible also. Fortunately, a month or so after that the live music nights returned with a cut off of 11 pm, which was reasonable and parties near the beach were able to play till then also before going onto headphones.

I think that is fair and reasonable and am hoping we won’t have to go through the nonsense of 10 pm curfew again. Attracting foreign tourists back to Goa is a challenge I can only speak as a United Kingdom tourist but for us coming back is tough as flight prices have doubled and visa is expensive and difficult also which is why tourists are only just trickling back. If any powers that be are reading this, I urge you not to put people off from coming here and enjoying not just the nature and beauty of Goa but also the fun of being here!
