FC Goa beat 10-man Bengaluru 4-3; Ferran Corominas scores the first hat-trick of the season
FATORDA: FC Goa came home and took away their game by storm with a 4-3 score line in their match against Bengaluru Football Club, at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on Thursday.
Amidst the roaring crowd, FC Goa went ahead in the 15th minute with Corominas netting the first goal before Nicolas Ladislao (20’) levelled scores. The Gaurs made it 3-1 at the end of the first half with Coro’s brilliance and Manuel Lanzarote Bruno’s spot kick.
The otherwise rampant Bengaluru FC fell short of their tricks against the Gaurs as the home side took charge and were duly rewarded for not letting the visitors settle with Coro’s goal in the first quarter.
The crowd went into raptures as Coro picked the ball from Edu Garcia just ahead of the centre line and swiftly made a mazy run past two men before slotting the ball home to give the Gaurs the deserved lead.
It wasn’t long before Bengaluru FC stepped up and showed their mettle as they took no time to make it all square with Nicolas Fedor (Miku) shooting through the legs of Kattimani.
The high-pressure game came with many more twists, as Bengaluru FC received the second yellow in the game and a free-kick awarded to FC Goa in a dangerous position. Manuel Lanzarote stepped up and went for glory, but missed to convert the set piece by inches.
FC Goa won yet another set piece and made it count this time as Lanzarote sent the ball deep inside the box. Bruno Pinheiro headed it down to Ferran who did the rest with ease by placing the ball past Bengaluru FC keeper Gurpreet Singh from point-blank range.
FC Goa tried to capitalise on every chance they got; Lanzarote made a swift move into the box and went down after he stumbled against the keeper, a bit of a tussle between the two ended with the rival keeper hitting FC Goa’s, Spanish midfielder.
Lanzarote made the most of the contact and went down in the box with the referee showing the way out to Gurpreet by flashing the red card, and awarding FC Goa with a spot kick.
Lanzarote calmly slotted the ball home as he sent the incoming ’keeper Abhra Mondal wrong way to restore Goa’s lead.
It seemed all over for Bengaluru FC as FC Goa went into the breather in cruise-control of the game with a two-goal cushion and a man advantage.
The game, however, witnessed turn of events on resumption with Paartalu heading the ball home from a corner kick thus narrowing the margin 3-2.
The series of unfortunate events continued for FC Goa as the 10-man Bengaluru FC made a strike at the goal yet again to silence the crowd. Nicolas Ladislao proved his worth as he easily made his way towards the goal past the box full of blue jerseys before shooting the ball past Laxmikant Kattimani, making it 3-3.
The 18,600 crowd didn’t go home disappointed with Coro scoring the first hat-trick of Season 4 in style as he took on the defender and the keeper to make it 4-3 at full-time.
