In a public outcry against electronic voting machines in Goa, concerned citizens hold a press conference at Panaji on Monday. The protesters demand a ban on EVM citing alleged faults in the accuracy of the electoral machine. They expressed concern over potential tampering, claiming that voters tendering to one contestant will be registered under another name.

However, the protesters argue that EVM has inherent flaws and is prone to inaccuracy, fuelling their demand to change the voting g system.

It may be recalled that earlier, a delegation of protesters went to the State Election Office at Altinho and submitted the memorandum. Out of the total 11.50 lakh voters of Goa, statements with signatures of one lakh voters who did not want EVMs were submitted to the State Election Office.

The protesters claimed that Goa is the first state in the country to show opposition to EVMs in such a large number. The local coordinators of this movement also announced that the campaign against the use of EVMs will continue.

In continuation of said protest after commissioning of code of conduct, the protesters were not allowed to stage a protest in the open. However, they conducted a press conference and continued their protest against EVM.

However, the Supreme Court has already dismissed the petition claiming irregularities in the operation of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and said that every method has its plus and minus points. The bench of the apex court has already examined several petitions and dealt with various issues related to the functioning of EVM.
