3.4 magnitude earthquake hits Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar

A 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck Kishtwar at Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.  According to reports from the National Center for Seismology (NCS), locals experienced tremors late at night. The seismic event occurred at 1:33 am, with its epicentre located at a depth of 30 kilometres. Despite the quake's moderate intensity, there have been no reports of damages or casualties resulting from the tremors.

The earthquake, with its epicentre in Kishtwar, prompted concerns among residents in the region. However, the NCS provided assurance through their statement on X, confirming the earthquake's details and emphasizing its relatively low magnitude. Such seismic activity, while not uncommon in the region due to its proximity to tectonic plate boundaries, serves as a reminder of the need for preparedness and awareness regarding natural disasters.

As seismic events can vary in intensity and impact, monitoring agencies continue to track and analyze data to provide timely warnings and information to residents and authorities. While this earthquake did not cause significant damage, as Jammu and Kashmir is an earthquake-prone area.
