In a significant operation, the Customs department at the Mumbai airport seized a large quantity of diamonds hidden in packets of noodles and gold concealed in the body parts of passengers and baggage. The collective value of the seized items is estimated to be around Rs 6.46 crore. As a result of this operation, four individuals have been arrested.

The seizure took place over the weekend, and it involved the confiscation of over 6.815 kg of gold worth approximately Rs 4.44 crore, as well as diamonds valued at Rs 2.02 crore. The arrested passengers, whose identities have not been disclosed, are believed to be involved in smuggling activities.

According to officials, the creative smuggling techniques employed by these individuals highlight the continuous efforts made by smugglers to evade detection. Concealing diamonds in noodle packets and hiding gold in various body parts demonstrates the lengths to which these criminals are willing to go to smuggle valuable items.

The Mumbai airport is one of the busiest airports in India, making it an attractive target for smugglers. Therefore, the Customs Department has been actively working to enhance its surveillance and detection capabilities. This recent seizure is seen as a major victory in their ongoing battle against smuggling.

Customs officials have warned passengers against attempting to smuggle illegal items. They have also urged the public to report any suspicious activities or individuals to help curb smuggling operations.

The smuggling of diamonds and gold not only leads to substantial financial losses for the government but also contributes to illegal activities and undermines the integrity of legitimate industries. Authorities remain committed to cracking down on such illegal activities and maintaining the security and integrity of the nation's borders.

The four individuals arrested in this operation will likely face charges related to smuggling and illegal possession of valuable items. Investigation into their network is ongoing, and further arrests may be made in the coming days
