A lifeless body of a 5-year-old girl was discovered under suspicious circumstances behind an under-construction site at Vaddem, Vasco, in the early hours of Friday morning. According to available information, the body of the child was found after the parents realized their daughter was missing. They promptly rushed the child's body to the Chicalim Sub District Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.
The mother of the deceased child has voiced concerns of potential foul play, alleging the possibility of rape and murder. Vasco police have initiated a thorough investigation into the sensitive matter.
South Goa SP Sunita Sawant confirmed that the workers of the under-construction site have been summoned for questioning as part of the investigative process. "We received a distress call from Chicalim Cottage Hospital regarding the arrival of a 5-year-old girl, who, upon examination, was determined to have passed away," stated Sawant.
She further said that the investigation was undertaken by Mormugao DySP Santosh Desai and Vasco PI Kapil Nayak. "Preliminary observations noted froth around the child's nose, prompting further inquiry. Given the presence of numerous migrant workers at the construction site, they too have been called in for questioning," Sawant added.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, Sawant mentioned the personal involvement of IGP Ombir Singh, who visited the Vasco police station to oversee the investigation. "We are leaving no stone unturned in our pursuit of the truth and are exploring all possible angles," assured Sawant.
