In a recent incident, the Agassaim police successfully apprehended two individuals involved in the theft of mattresses from a vehicle driven by Imroz Alam. The incident occurred as Alam was transporting six mattresses from Corlim to Canacona.

The accused, identified as Gurudas Gauns, also known as Kamal, and Malcom Palha, both residents of Agassaim, intercepted Alam at Sulabhat. During the crime, they wrongfully restrained Alam and proceeded to steal the mattresses.

Following the theft, the accused fled the scene. However, diligent efforts by the police led to their identification and subsequent arrest. Police Inspector Vikram Naik provided details, stating, "We have successfully recovered all the stolen property, valued at Rs 25,000."

Alam, the victim in this case, reported not only the theft but also physical assault by the perpetrators. The accused allegedly used a wooden stick and tube lights to assault Alam and issued threats of dire consequences before making their escape.

The Agassaim police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code in response to the complaint. The arrested individuals have been remanded to police custody by the local court.
