The Statement released by the Anjuna Hotel that it was the tourists who initially assaulted its staff after being told not to smoke Hookah on the hotel premises, will have to be corroborated with other evidence, SP Crime Nidhin Valsan told media on Thursday. So far 5 persons all locals have been arrested in the assault on tourists case. The victim may be asked to join the investigation if needed after he recovers, Valsan said.
With regard to a gang rape alleged at Calangute in 2023, Valsan said that the woman had admitted before a magistrate that no such incident occurred and that she is being treated for psychiatric problems. Action will also be taken against a Kerala bus driver for making a fake video that locals threatened to burn his bus in Goa, Valsan said.
