In response to the 4 major blasts reported on Thursday night at the Kairav Rolling Mill, Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye questioned the mill authorities about the people responsible for the blast. He further stated that an FIR would be lodged and an immediate apprehension against those held responsible for putting people's lives in danger.

On Friday, Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye along with the pollution control board, police and fire and emergency department officers visited the Kairav Rolling Mills in Muslimwada where 4 blasts were reported on Thursday night. The blast was so intense that it shook the neighbouring houses convincing the residents in believing that it was due to an earthquake.  MLA enraged with the incident questioned the mill authorities of those responsible behind the act.

Not only the mill authorities but the pollution control board officer who had accompanied the MLA without any proper documentations, which further infuriated the Bicholim MLA. “Today I feel very disappointed in our government officers who carried not a single document with them regarding this Mill. My main question was, what kind of business was taking place in this site? Was it of any benefit to the government?  Were all the permissions and licensing provided by the government or not? Who is the parent company?  I have told the PI to file an FIR and start the investigations immediately. However, I did not receive satisfactory answers. People’s safety is my main concern and not the action”

The locals who had accompanied the MLA asked about their safety methods. They demanded that immediate apprehension be done of the perpetrators for putting the lives of innocent people in danger.
