In the early hours of Sunday, chaos unfolded in Noida's Sector 65 as a massive fire engulfed a building, prompting a swift response from firefighting teams. With 15 fire tenders rushing to the scene, efforts to quell the blaze commenced immediately, shrouded in uncertainty regarding the fire's origin.Initial assessments by the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of Noida suggest a short circuit as a likely cause of the inferno, although investigations remain ongoing to ascertain the exact trigger. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported as firefighters battled to extinguish the flames that ravaged the building from bottom to top.Visuals shared by news agencies depict the intensity of the blaze, underscoring the urgency and gravity of the situation faced by firefighters on the ground. Pradeep Kumar, Noida's CFO, provided insights into the firefighting operation, stating, "We received information about the fire in a leather manufacturing company at around 4:30 am... It seems the fire broke out due to a short circuit."This incident follows closely on the heels of another major fire at the Ghazipur landfill site in east Delhi the previous Sunday, highlighting the pressing need for robust fire safety measures and vigilance. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings, with an FIR registered against unidentified individuals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code about endangering lives and public health.As investigations into both incidents continue, concerns persist over fire safety protocols and the need for preventative measures to avert future tragedies. The Delhi government later directed its environment department to submit a detailed report on the causes of the fire and an action plan to prevent similar incidents at such sites in the summer.
