In a display of Bravery and quick thinking, the Cuncolim, Pirabandh police averted a tragedy as a woman's life on Sunday. The incident came to light when police officers overheard the woman's distressing conversation, wherein she expressed intentions of taking her own life. Swift action ensued as the officers pursued her, ultimately preventing the dire outcome.
The dramatic sequence of events occurred near the Cuncollim, Pirabandh area, where the woman, amidst her conversation on a mobile phone while riding a bicycle, made alarming threats. Police sub-inspector Kavita Rawat, on patrol near the mosque, caught wind of the situation and immediately alerted Constable Rajesh Warip, setting in motion a lifesaving response.
Constable Warip wasted no time, chasing the distressed woman for approximately 1 kilometer until she reached the bridge. In a moment of desperation, the woman leaped into the water below. Without hesitation, Constable Warip followed suit, plunging into the river to rescue her from the depths.
Following the daring rescue, the woman was swiftly transported to the health center in Balli, where she received necessary medical attention, thanks to the timely intervention of the police.
Upon further inquiry, it was revealed that the woman, hailing from Yellapur (Karnataka) and residing in the Kairamal in Cuncolim area, cited familial troubles, particularly with her in-laws, as the root cause of her distress. The police have initiated investigations into the matter, summoning the woman's in-laws for statements to ascertain the circumstances leading to the harrowing incident.
The courageous act of Constable Rajesh Warip stands to the dedication and bravery exhibited by the Cuncolim police force in safeguarding the lives of citizens, even in the face of perilous circumstances.
