Bodgeshwar Sansthan in Mapusa was burgled in the wee hours on Monday. Thieves managed to escape with approximately 12 lakhs from two fund boxes after tying the security guard to a chair at 4:30 am. Four masked individuals committed the robbery, this continued robbery at the Devasthan has raised serious concerns about the security measures.

Bodgeshwar Sansthan, renowned in Goa and also across Maharashtra and Karnataka, attracts devotees from all walks of life due to its reputation as a divine protector. However, the recent targeted attack has highlighted weak security infrastructure. Despite the presence of a security guard appointed by the Devasthan Committee, it has become evident that additional measures are urgently required to safeguard the sanctity of the temple and its offerings.

However, CCTV footage captured the thieves entering the temple at 2:07 am. They caught the security guard tied him to the chair, and ransacked the fund boxes. Fortunately, a devotee arriving for morning darshan at 3 a.m. discovered the scene, freeing the guard and alerting authorities.

Upon receiving the report, the temple committee promptly contacted the Mapusa police, who initiated a thorough investigation, including conducting Panchnama at the crime scene. According to temple authorities, the stolen funds amounted to approximately Rs. 12 lakhs.

This act of theft has not only rattled the devotees but also highlights the urgent need for better security measures to protect sacred places of worship like Shree Bodgeshwar Sansthan from such activities.
