A counterfeit Rs 500 notes with the label 'Children Bank of India' have resurfaced, this time deceiving a petrol pump attendant in Dhargal, Pernem. The attendant fell victim to a four-wheeler rider who passed on four fake notes amounting to Rs 2,000 after fuel purchase.


The attendant, caught up in the rush, accepted the counterfeit currency without thorough inspection, only realizing the deception while reconciling the day's earnings later that night, prompting a complaint filed at the Pernem Police station.


This incident echoes the ongoing issue of counterfeit currency adorned with the distinct 'Children Bank of India' mark, circulating across the nation since 2018. Local authorities are actively pursuing the case, leveraging CCTV footage from the petrol pump to track down the perpetrator.


Instances of counterfeit currency pose a persistent threat, necessitating constant vigilance from both law enforcement and the public to combat financial fraud effectively.
