In response to complaints filed by Margao residents Amit Pinto and Brucelee Quadros, the Cyber Crime Police Station in Ribandar has launched an investigation into the circulation of defamatory content on social media platforms. Pinto and Quadros allege that unknown individuals have been disseminating morphed photos and false messages, accusing them of distributing money to influence political voting.

According to the complainants, these actions have not only besmirched their reputations within society but have also incited animosity and discord among community members. In light of these incidents, the Cyber Crime unit has issued a stern warning, cautioning against the misuse of social media platforms.

The unit emphasizes that those behind such activities should not assume anonymity, as the law enforcement agencies are equipped to trace and apprehend offenders. It is asserted that perpetrators will face legal consequences and be brought to justice.

The complaints are currently under investigation by the Cyber Crime Police Station.
