The very severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy has intensified over the East central Arabian Sea. Over the past six hours, it has been moving almost northwards at a speed of 5 kmph. On Thursday, the storm is centred approximately 860 km west-southwest of Goa, 910 km southwest of Mumbai, 940 km south-southwest of Porbandar, and 1230 km south of Karachi.
IMD predicts that Biparjoy will gradually intensify further over the next 48 hours. The storm is expected to maintain its north-northwestward movement over the next 3 days. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation, especially in the coastal areas of Goa and Mumbai, as the storm's route could potentially affect these regions.
