Ponda: In a tragic accident, a motorcycle taxi operator was crushed to death under a crane at KTC Bus Stand, Ponda. The horrific accident took place on Tuesday morning. The crane was moving around to assist in the highway widening work on the approach roads to the bus stand.
Tuesday morning turned out to be tragic for a motocycle taxi operator in Ponda. As per his daily routine he had parked his motorcycle at the yellow-black motorcycle taxi stand at the KTC Bus stand. Since he did not get any passengers to ferry he was reading a newspaper by the roadside at Ponda KTC bus stand.
At this moment a crane which was part of the road widening work at the KTC bus stand suddenly came towards him, crushing him to death. The deceased identified as Prakash Chodankar, 58, died on the spot. He was a resident of Kavlemand operating from the PondaKTC Bus Stand for years.
Locals and commuters rushed to the site, but he was already dead.Pondapolice were called to the spot and they conducted the panchanama. When contacted by Herald TV, Ponda Police Inspector TusharLotlikar said that the crane driver had been booked for rash and negligent driving and causing death.
