Fake News Circulated on WhatsApp Targeting Dempo Group, Cyber Crime Police Investigates

The Cyber Crime Police Station in Ribandar, Goa, has initiated a legal investigation after receiving a complaint from Mrs. Sharmila S. Prabhu, the authorized representative of V.S. Dempo Holdings Pvt. Ltd.

According to the complaint, a false and fabricated "news item" or screenshot has been circulated on WhatsApp, showing a picture of Smt. Pallavi Dempo, one of the directors of the Dempo Group of Companies, and the false information that "Business Tie-Up expected between Dempo & Adani Groups after Polls."

The complaint further states that neither a tie-up nor any understanding, joint venture, or business deal exists between the two companies. The content of the circulated "news item" or screenshot is deemed false, fabricated, and maliciously circulated.

The Cyber Crime Police Station has taken cognizance of the complaint and has initiated the necessary legal action. They have also asked the public not to circulate the said post, as it is found to be false and misleading.

The Dempo Group of Companies is a prominent business conglomerate in Goa, and the circulation of such false information can have serious implications. The Cyber Crime Police are taking this matter seriously and are investigating the source and motive behind the spread of this fake news.
