Fatal Accident on National Highway 66 Near Naibag Junction: Scooter Collides with Truck

A collision between a truck and a scooter on National Highway 66 near Naibag junction, has resulted in severe injuries to two individuals, with one fatality reported. The incident, documented under Reference SDE No. 46/24, unfolded as the truck, identified as a Tata Truck with registration number GA-01-U-2543, driven by Pandita Ramchandra Naik, aged 47 and currently residing in Laximanwadi, Kudal, Maharashtra, was traversing from the internal road of Naibag towards the Patradevi side.


At the junction, the truck collided with a Honda Dio Scooter bearing registration number GA 04 K 6819, which was being ridden by Rajaram Naik, aged 58, with Sunita Naik, aged 50, as the pillion rider. The scooter was en route from Malpem towards Patradevi when the collision occurred.


The impact of the collision caused both riders, Rajaram Naik and Sunita Naik, to be thrown from the scooter, resulting in serious injuries. Both individuals were promptly transported to the hospital for urgent medical attention via a 108 ambulance. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save her, Mrs. Sunita Naik succumbed to her injuries, as confirmed by subsequent reports.


The authorities swiftly responded to the incident, with the Pernem Police Station registering the case under MV Accident No. 32/2024 following directions from the Pernem PS PI. Detailed investigations were conducted, including the completion of a MV accident panchanama and the creation of a sketch depicting the scene of the accident, with the involvement of two reputable panchas.
