Team Herald

The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned the Popular Front of India and its associate organisations for a period of 5 years. It has been declared an unlawful organization. SP South Goa Abhishekh Dhania said if its members undertake any activities action will be taken against them. No arrests have been made in Goa so far but a sharp vigil will be kept on its members.

The ban has been imposed after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted numerous raids and detained and arrested more than 100 PFI activists. "PFI and its associates or affiliates or fronts have been involved in criminal activities, which are prejudicial to the integrity, sovereignty and security of the country and have the potential of disturbing public peace and communal harmony of the country and supporting militancy in the country," the Ministry of Home Affairs stated in a gazette notification.
