Man Arrested in Mumbai for Black Marketing World Cup Semi-Final Tickets Between India and New Zealand

A man, identified as Akash Kothari, has been apprehended from his residence in Malad, Mumbai, for his alleged involvement in black marketing tickets for the highly anticipated World Cup cricket semi-final clash between India and New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium. The arrest was carried out by the JJ police station team. According to circulating WhatsApp messages, Kothari was selling tickets in the price range of ₹27,000 to ₹2.5 lakh, significantly surpassing their original cost.

The accused faces charges of cheating and other offenses under sections 420 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code, as he reportedly sold the tickets at four to five times their actual value. The police are actively investigating to determine the source of these tickets and ascertain whether additional individuals are part of this illicit ticketing racket. The ongoing probe aims to unveil the extent of the operation and bring any other culprits to justice.
