A massive fire engulfed the Taleigao field on Friday afternoon leaving smoke and residue emission into the residential apartments nearby. Fire and emergency services reached the spot on time to douse the fire.
On Friday afternoon, a massive fire erupted in a field at Taleigao engulfing the vegetation of the surrounding. Locals immediately called the fire brigade to douse the fire. In no time the team arrived at the location and began their work. The flame was so enormous that the water from two fire trucks was unable to douse the fire. Around 90% of the fire was extinguished and a third truck was on its way. By the time the truck could arrive, an hour passed for the fire.
The locals suspected that someone in the field ignited the fire causing it to spread rapidly. The exact cause is still unknown.
Due to the incomplete extinguishment of fire, it started emitting thick smoke along with ashes and residues. The wind gave a push to these residues causing their direction to change towards the residential apartments. Several residents nearby complained about the smoke and residue entering their houses resulting in breathing problems.
Not only the residents but commuters traversing that lane complained about unclear vision as the smoke covered the entire area. Police reached the spot to investigate the matter. They also helped in directing the traffic to avoid any mishaps.
