In a bid to streamline property assessments and update municipal records, the Mormugao Municipal Council has officially launched a comprehensive House Reassessment Drive. The initiative aims to ensure accurate property valuations and promote transparency within the local taxation system.
Chairperson Girish Borker initiated the drive earlier on Wednesday in the residential area of Driver Hill. The event marked the beginning of a city-wide campaign that will see municipal officials and assessors visiting various neighbourhoods to reassess and update property details.
Chairperson Girish Borker highlighted the importance of the House Reassessment Drive in maintaining an accurate record of property values. He emphasized that the initiative is crucial for fair and equitable taxation, ensuring that residents contribute to civic amenities based on the current market value of their properties.
The drive will involve a thorough examination of residential and commercial properties, with assessors verifying details such as construction type, property dimensions, and any modifications made since the last assessment. Property owners are encouraged to cooperate with the assessment teams to facilitate a smooth and efficient process.
Chairperson Borker assured residents that the House Reassessment Drive is not aimed at increasing tax burdens but rather at ensuring a fair and updated assessment system. He stated, "Our goal is to create a more accurate and transparent record of property values. This will contribute to a fair distribution of civic responsibilities and resources.
The House Reassessment Drive is expected to continue, covering all neighborhoods within the jurisdiction of the Mormugao Municipal Council. The local authorities are urging residents to actively participate and support this initiative for the collective benefit of the community.
