In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old woman in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada purportedly tossed her six-year-old hearing-impaired son into a canal known to be populated by crocodiles. The local police apprehended the mother on charges of murder after the incident.

The tragic incident unfolded on Saturday night in Halamadi village, where the woman, identified as Savitri, allegedly engaged in frequent clashes with her husband, Ravi Kumar (36), over their son Vinod's hearing and speech impairment. Police investigations revealed that the couple often quarrelled about the condition of their elder son, who had been speech-disabled since birth.

Amidst a heated altercation, authorities allege that Savitri forcibly threw Vinod into the canal around 9 pm. The waterway, connected to the crocodile-infested River Kali, posed grave dangers to the child. Despite search efforts by police and fire brigade divers, hindered by darkness, Vinod's body remained elusive on Saturday night.

The following morning, at around 9 am, the search team succeeded in recovering the child's remains from the grasp of a crocodile, which had already consumed the boy's right hand. Vinod's body exhibited severe injuries and bite marks, indicative of the harrowing ordeal he endured.

Both, Savitri and Ravi Kumar, employed as house help and a mason helper, respectively, made a court appearance and were remanded to 14-day judicial custody. In her statement to the press, Savitri accused her husband of subjecting her to mental anguish and held him accountable for their son's tragic demise.
