Naushad Chowdhari, Chief of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) in Goa, along with members of the Goa University NSUI Unit, recently met with the Secretary of Education, in a proactive move aimed at enhancing the welfare of students. The delegation presented a demand for immediate action to improve the quality of mess food services in the Goa University Hostels.
During the meeting, Chowdhari highlighted the concerns surrounding the current state of mess facilities, emphasizing the need for better quality food to ensure the well-being and nutritional needs of the students residing in the hostels. He called attention to the importance of allocating sufficient funds to address the issues related to the mess services and proposed a comprehensive plan to enhance the overall quality.
In addition to the demand for improved mess food, the NSUI delegation urged the Secretary of Education to take necessary actions to enhance the safety measures for students in the hostels. Ensuring a secure living environment for the students emerged as a key focus during the discussion.
Chowdhari expressed his commitment to collaborating with the education authorities to find viable solutions and implement necessary changes promptly. The NSUI leaders stressed the significance of a conducive living and dining environment for students, contributing to their overall well-being and academic performance.
The Secretary of Education assured the NSUI delegation of a thorough review of the concerns raised and pledged to work towards allocating the required funds and implementing measures for the betterment of mess facilities and safety standards in Goa University Hostels.
It can be recalled that in the previous month, NSUI Goa University Incharge Rushab Phaldessai along with university team met the Registrar of Goa University and Complaint about Maggots been found in the hostel mess food and demanded for mess contractor termination. Registrar assured that new tender for mess food will be floated in February and quality food will be provided in hostels, Failing which NSUI along with Hostel Students will protest at Admin Block .
