Pernem Police have cracked a murder case within hours of its registration. The case, which surfaced earlier on Saturday with a body being found in the river at Naibag, Pernem Goa, has culminated in the arrest of two suspects.


According to Senior Deputy Police Officer (SDPO) of Pernem, Jivba Dalvi, the victim was identified as Abnejar, aged 47, hailing from Naibag, Pernem, Goa, and originally from Simdega, Jharkhand. The grim discovery prompted Pernem Police to swiftly initiate a murder investigation, given the condition of the deceased.


Within a mere three hours of intensive investigation, the perpetrators behind the heinous act were identified and apprehended. One of the accused was traced to Maharashtra, highlighting the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies across state borders.


The arrested individuals have been identified as Satish Kullu, currently residing in Bhatpawni, Naibag, Pernem, Goa, and Junel Kullu, whose current address is in Malewadi, Maharashtra. Both hail from Simdega, Jharkhand.


The investigation revealed that the victim was strangled with a nylon rope before being disposed of in the Terekhol river, a gruesome attempt to erase evidence of the crime. It has been also come to light that both accused are brothers of the victim, however the reason behind their heinous act has not been revealed. 


The successful resolution of the case underscores the dedication and efficiency of the investigative team, which comprised officers including PI Sachin B. Lokre, PSI Navneet Goltekar, PSI Yogesh Mandrekar, as well as Head Constables Prasad Tuyekar and Tirtharaj Mhamal, among others. Their relentless pursuit of justice was further bolstered by the invaluable assistance of Home Guard Kavikant Tuyekar.


The investigation remains ongoing under the diligent supervision of PI Sachin B. Lokre, overseen by SDPO Pernem, Jivba G. Dalvi, and SP(North) Porvorim, Akshat Kaushal, IPS, ensuring that all facets of this incident are thoroughly examined, and justice is served.
