In a bid to enhance road safety, Panjim Police conducted a special drive at Panjim targeting riders not wearing helmets on Thursday.
Police Inspector Chetan Saulekar disclosed that the initiative has been resulting in hefty fines for individuals found riding without helmets and violating traffic rules. Such fines serve as a deterrent and aim to reduce the incidence of accidents and injuries caused by reckless riding practices. By imposing substantial penalties, the Police hope to instil a sense of responsibility among riders and create a safer traffic environment for everyone.
Police Inspector Chetan Saulekar went on to urge vehicle users to wear helmets both during the day and at night, as unexpected operations like this will continue in Panjim in the future.
