Pernem Police Bust Drug Peddling Operation, Arrest Two with Ganja Worth Rs 2.5 Lakh

Pernem Police successfully conducted a drug raid at Korgao, Pernem, leading to the arrest of two individuals, including a local resident, for the possession and transportation of ganja valued at Rs 2.5 lakh.


The apprehended individuals have been identified as Shubham Sharma, a 27-year-old from Tuem, and Gopinath Harmalkar, a 25-year-old from Morjim. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the duo who were allegedly transporting 2.5 kg of ganja on their scooter with an estimated street value of Rs 2.50 lakh.


The accused were en route to deliver the illegal substance to their prospective customers when the police intercepted and apprehended them. The law enforcement officers seized the ganja, the scooter used for transportation, and two mobile phones from the suspects.


Both Shubham Sharma and Gopinath Harmalkar are now facing charges related to the possession and trafficking of narcotics, which could lead to serious legal consequences. The Pernem Police are conducting further investigations to trace the source of the drugs and identify any potential connections to a larger drug network.


Pernem Police Station registered offence u/s 20(b) (ii) (B) of NDPS Act. Further investigation is in progress with PSI Vivek Halarnkar under the supervision of PI Pernem PS Sachin Lokre and under overall supervision of SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi and SP North Akshat  Kaushal IPS .
