A portion of the false ceiling crumpled down at Kala Academy on Monday morning due to water leakage has speculated concerns amongst the public over the newly renovated structure. Panjim fire and emergency services were seen around Kala Academy as the authorities had called for help to inspect the issue.
Kala Academy, known as the Taj Mahal of Goa as per Goa CM, is now battling with poor engineering. The false ceiling inside the Kala Academy came down crumpling with bits and pieces. As per reports, there was a sign of water leakage which made the false ceiling weak and fell down. The entire corridor’s false ceiling was filled with water and was on the verge of collapsing. The surface of the ceiling was uneven as it had absorbed most of the leaked water making it soft.
This has raised speculation amongst the public on the inadequate work done for the renovation of Kala Academy. With just a month away from monsoons, the condition of the Kala Academy has begun to deteriorate due to a sudden shower on Saturday. This is not the first time that a portion has come down crashing at Kala Academy. On July 17th a huge portion of the structure of an open-air auditorium at the Kala Academy in Panaji collapsed on Monday. The Opposition had renewed the allegations of corruption in the renovation work underway at the Kala Academy.
