Porvorim Police Crack Down on Illegal Cricket Betting Operation; Three Arrested

Porvorim Police conducted a raid on a private bungalow in Salvador do Munro, Bardez, Goa, leading to the arrest of three individuals involved in illegal cricket betting. Acting on reliable information, the police raided the premises and apprehended the accused persons.


The raid, led by Porvorim Police Inspector Rahul Parab, along with Police Sub-Inspectors Sitaram Malik and Mandar Parab, and a team of dedicated constables, resulted in the seizure of crucial evidence. Among the confiscated items were mobile phones, a laptop, a wifi router, and other articles valued at Rs. 1,70,000/-.


The accused individuals were identified as Khaljeet Singh (34 years old), Nitesh Kumar (20 years old), and Rahul Chowhan (27 years old), all hailing from West Bengal. They have been booked under sections 3 and 4 of the Goa Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act.


"We received credible information about the illegal cricket betting activities taking place at the bungalow in Salvador do Munro. Our team swiftly organized a raid, resulting in the arrest of the three accused persons and the confiscation of evidence," stated Porvorim Police Inspector Rahul Parab.


The raiding team consisted of dedicated officers and constables, including Utkarsh Dessai, Mahadev Naik, Siddhesh Naik, Tushar Raut, and Nitesh Gaude. The accused are now in police custody, and further investigation is underway.


The Superintendent of Police North, Akshat Kaushal, IPS, and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer Porvorim are supervising the ongoing investigation. The police are determined to crack down on such illegal activities to maintain the integrity of sports and uphold the law.
