As the world grapples with the effects of climate change, we must take proactive measures to safeguard our environment. Unfortunately, the village of Raia is facing a grave threat to its natural landscape. Ex-sarpanch Riza Rodrigues, along with 50 concerned villagers, has come forward to raise their voices against the illegal hill cutting in their area.

According to Rodrigues, the issue began when a few individuals decided to undertake hill-cutting without proper permission from the authorities. As a result, the entire hill has been decimated and numerous trees have been chopped down. The situation has escalated to such an extent that there are fears of Raia turning into another Moti-Dongar.

Despite repeated attempts to reach out to the owner responsible for this illegal activity, the villagers have been met with excuses and unavailability for a meeting. This has only fuelled their determination to take action and put an end to the destruction of their land.

Apart from the obvious environmental concerns, the villagers are also worried about the overall impact of tree cutting on the changing climatic conditions.

In a united effort, the villagers have decided to submit a formal complaint to the panchayat, urging them to intervene and put a stop to the illegal hill cutting. They are also appealing to the authorities to take swift action to prevent any further damage to the village.

In conclusion, the village of Raia is facing a grave environmental threat, and immediate action is needed to prevent irreversible damage. Let us all join hands and support the efforts of Raia ex-sarpanch Riza Rodrigues and the villagers in their fight against illegal hill cutting. The future of our environment depends on it.
