Social activist Santan Fernandes has raised concerns regarding the ongoing construction work of a culvert at the Zudio Mall in Benaulim. He questions the necessity of raising the culvert's height, citing potential risks of accidents and disruptions to traffic flow.

Fernandes expressed his worries, stating, "I don't understand the reason behind raising the height of the culvert. This may lead to more accidents, especially considering the nearby link road of the western bypass. Increased height could pose difficulties for traffic flow and disturb water bodies in the area."

The inauguration of the culvert work was performed by the Benaulim MLA just before the Code of Conduct came into effect. However, now the MLA has halted the construction, demanding to review the design of the culvert. Fernandes criticized this move, suggesting that such scrutiny should have been conducted prior to commencing the work.

With the rainy season approaching and only a few days left, Fernandes doubts the completion of the project within the timeframe. He warns that the delay could exacerbate traffic problems in the area.

The concerns raised by Fernandes highlight the need for thorough planning and evaluation in construction projects to ensure both safety and efficiency.
