The issue of stray cattle continues to pose a significant concern in Goa, with yet another incident reported in Mapusa on Thursday morning.

A car driver had a harrowing experience when a large cow suddenly appeared on the main road, resulting in a head-on collision with the speeding vehicle. Thankfully, there were no human casualties, but the car sustained major damage. The cow was also injured and bleeding following the collision.

Expressing frustration, the car driver criticized the authorities for their apparent negligence, emphasizing the need for proper arrangements to manage stray cattle on the roads.

Local residents highlighted that these cattle are often abandoned by their owners, forcing them to roam freely on the streets, endangering the lives of commuters.

The streets of Goa are witnessing an increasing number of accidents due to the presence of numerous wandering cows. Recently, two incidents occurred in different parts of the state due to this cattle menace.

Last Monday, a 20-year-old youth from Pansule, Dharbandora, sustained serious injuries after his bike collided with a cow sitting on the road at Par Usgao. The accident occurred in darkness, making it difficult for the rider to spot the cow.

A few days prior, four cattle were killed and one injured on Dhavli Bypass when a heavy vehicle collided with them early in the morning. Similar incidents have occurred on the Curti-Kerya Dharbandora Road, causing multiple accidents.

Several years ago, a tragic accident at Paunwada Kavlem resulted in serious injuries to youths, while a cow lost its life after being struck by a bike.
