Street Providence NGO Stages Protest Demanding Adequate Medical Facilities

Approximately 80 to 100 inmates of Street Providence NGO in North Goa gathered outside the Directorate of Health Services office at Campal to protest the apparent lack of medical facilities reaching their homes on Monday. The protesters emphasized that this issue persists despite a two-year-old order issued by the DHS. the protestors have also warned the government of staging a protest in large numbers if their issues are not resolved within a week. 

Donald Fernandes, from street providence demanded to considered their previously given order and implement on the same as soon as possible. He even threatened by saying that if this issue is not resolved within a weeks’ time, then “All the inmates will stage the protest outside the Department of health and services until their issues are resolved”.

Meanwhile, volunteer Arturo Dsouza said that “we have meet Dy director and we have asked her to intervene in this matter. He further added on saying that the Dy director has asked to submit a fresh proposal.

Another person from street providence quoted saying that “we have been requested from different health centres to take the patience to our shelter home and we do that, keeping in mind this the government should provide us with facilities we are demanding for”.
