Mapusa Municipal Council meeting took a tumultuous turn as the Chairperson, Priya Mishal, and Councillor Shashank Narvekar engaged in a heated argument, resulting in the Chairperson asking the councillor to leave.
The exchange escalated to a point where Mishal instructed Narvekar to exit the meeting, leading to further tensions. Narvekar, in response, highlighted what he deemed unparliamentary language from the presiding officer. The councillor questioned the delay in advertising lapsed posts, emphasizing that the office belongs to the people of Mapusa. The confrontation underscored ongoing tensions within the municipal council.
The councillor pointed out to the fellow councillors about the conduct of the chairperson.
Narvekar asked the Chairperson why an advertisement had not been issued for the posts, which had already lapsed. “It is not your office. It is the office of the people of Mapusa,” the Councillor said.
The Chairperson was heard repeatedly asking the councillor to take his seat. “I am the chairperson, who are you?,” she asked the councillor.
