Two booked for forcing teens to beg in Mapusa

Mapusa Police booked two women and rescued a minor child who was
allegedly forced into begging.The police booked SharadbaiPawar and Bali Kale,
both natives of Maharashtra but residents of Bodgini, Mapusa, for forcing a
16-year-old and a 19-year-old girl to beg, in Mapusa market.

According to police, the accused women intentionally forced the
children to beg for the purpose of earning a living.
A representative of Childline was instrumental to rescue the
minor child and later complained to the police.
Both the children were found begging in the Mapusa municipal
market. An offence under Section 76 of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of
Children) Act, 2015 and Section 11 of The Goa Prevention of Begging Act 1972
was registered against the accused.
The FIR copies have been submitted to the JMFC, Mapusa for
further penal action.
