Unsanitary Conditions, Foul Odour Plague SGPDA Market

Unsanitary Conditions, Foul Odour Plague SGPDA Market

Team Herald

Margao residents and regular customers of the SGPDA market have voiced growing concerns over the persistently unsanitary state of the market premises. The situation has reached a point where both the interior and exterior of the market are marred by littered thermocol containers, plastic waste, and other non-biodegradable materials. Of even greater distress is the revelation that a repugnant black liquid, emanating from frozen fish trucks, is being discharged onto the market road and its vicinity, intensifying the already unpleasant odour.

Despite repeated complaints from the local community and daily shoppers, the unhygienic conditions prevailing at the SGPDA market have yet to see a meaningful resolution. Margao's residents and those who frequent the SGPDA market have united in highlighting the deteriorating environment and the noxious stench that now pervades the market area.

Allegations abound that the liquid waste discharged by frozen fish trucks has only exacerbated the problem. This dire situation has compelled the concerned residents to urge both the SGPDA (South Goa Planning and Development Authority) and the MMC (Margao Municipal Council) to take immediate and effective action. The need of the hour is a comprehensive and sustainable solution that can curb the spread of vector-borne illnesses and restore a sense of cleanliness and well-being to the heart of Margao.
