For nearly a decade, the Criss Brass Band from Velim has been a fixture in Goa's music scene, enchanting audiences with their performances during feasts and various celebrations. Led by Criss Dsouza, the band comprises talented musicians like Jack Pereira from Navelim, Anthony from Velim, Joaquim from Curtorim, and Agnelo from Sirlim, all passionate about preserving traditional Goan music.


Despite the prevalence of electronic instruments in today's music landscape, Criss Brass Band remains dedicated to the original blowing techniques and old-fashioned Goan instruments, emphasizing the importance of preserving these cultural treasures. In a message to the youth, Criss Dsouza emphasized that music runs deep in Goan blood, urging aspiring musicians to learn brass instruments to carry forward this rich musical heritage.


Their dedication to tradition extends beyond performances; the band actively participates in Goa's Carnival floats, and local football games among other events showcasing their musical skills with vibrant energy that captivates audiences.


Criss Dsouza of Velim emphasized, "Blowing power with full swing is essential in maintaining the energy and authenticity of our traditional music."
