The Mhadei Bachao Abhiyan has urged the voters of Goa to vote for candidates who will work to save Mhadei and raise the Mhadei issue in the Parliament. Calling the diversion as the last nail in the coffin, Former Forest Minister Nirmala Sawant said that if Mhadei is not saved Goa will lose very badly.

Former Forest Minister Nirmala Sawant who is one of the founder members of Mhadei Bachao Abhiyan said that she has left it to the people and the voters of Goa to decide and vote for the candidates who have and will work for the protection of river Mhadei. “Politicians keep saying that they want to make Goa spiritual, religious, educational hub and now looks like they also want to make it coal hub. If Goa is made into all these hubs we will need a lot of water” she said.

“When we visited Krishnapur we have noticed that water level has reduced already. The State government has also agreed to this. If the state is already water deficit I can’t imagine what will be our state in the future” she said.

“There is a likelihood that all the agricultural and horticultural crops will be affected and along with that so many other occupations will come to an end,” Sawant warned.

“Vote for the candidate which will work for saving Mhadei” she appealed.
