We demand face to face meeting of transport minister: Taxi operators

Team Herald

Taxi operators from Calangute have demanded a one-to-one meeting with Transport minister and concerned authorities over the failure of government to resolve their long pending issues. Taxi operators have slammed BJP government of being hand in glove with all the scams related to taxi operations in Goa.

Speaking to media one of the taxi operators said that the transportation industry in Goa, has been plagued by corruption and scams for years. Taxi operators have been demanding accountability from the government and relevant authorities to put an end to the fraudulent practices that have become rampant in the industry.

He further said that BJP government is not in favour of taxi drivers in goa but people outside Goa. They further said that Goa miles company drivers are overcharging tourists to operating without proper permits and licenses, yet no action has been taken against them.

However, on the other hand we the taxi operators from Goa are forced to face stringent penalties charges for any rule violation. It’s been years our grievances have been ignored for far too long, he added. It's time to put a light on the scams and corruption that are affecting Goa's transportation industry, by corner authority.

Taxi scams can have a profound impact on both taxi operators and consumers causing financial strain within the transportation industry. For taxi operators, being associated with scams can tarnish their reputation and credibility, leading to a loss of customers and a decrease in overall business. The negative publicity generated by scams can damage the livelihoods of honest operators who strive to provide quality service.

If this continue then we will not have any means to survive as we are completely dependent on this business, they added.
