Whose candidate is she?

Is Jennifer for Congress or not? The Congress candidate  from Taleigao has been distributing this material to voters during her door-to-door campaign. There's no sign of the Congress symbol or mention that she's the Congress candidate. Will she finally be the Congress or UG candidate?


59 nominations filed

A total of 59 nominations were filed on Monday, including that of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and 16 sitting MLAs, for the February 4 Assembly elections. With this, the total number of nominations filed stands at 70. The last date for filing nomination papers is January 18. Additional Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Narayan Navti confirming the news said, “The scrutiny of the applications will take place on January 19 with withdrawals, if any, to take place on January 21.” Of the 59 nominations, 21 are BJP candidates, six are from the Congress, seven independents, seven from the MGP-GSM alliance, eleven from AAP, three of Goa Forward, two Communist Party and one United Goans. 


Pernem block to file plaint

BJP Pernem block is about to file complaint with the Election Commission on disturbance which took place between MGP leader Babu Azgaonkar's and BJP leader Rajendra Arlekar’s groups while filing nominations forms at the Pernem Mamlatdar office on Monday. The incident took place between the MGP & BJP supporters in over confidence to show their power to each other creating disturbance & oral argument between them in which BJP General secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavde was manhandled by Azgaonkar's supporters. During this incident due to lack of police force, the Pernem police failed to handle the situation. 


7 file nomination in quepem

Seven candidates filed their nomination papers before the Returning Officers of their respective constituency at Quepem on Monday.Seating BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral filed his nomination before the Returning Officer Sagun Velip followed by AAP candidate James Fernandes and GSM candidate Shyam Satardekar for the Curchorem constituency.For Sanguem constituency incumbent BJP MLA Subhash Phal Dessai, AAP candidate Ravindra Velip and Independent candidate Dattaprasad Sanvordekar filed their nominations papers before the Returning Officer Prashant Shirodkar and for the Quepem constituency BJP candidate Prakash Shanker Velip filed his nomination.Meanwhile Curchorem MLA Cabral inaugurated his election office at Curchorem. 


AAP-BJP clash averted

Timely intervention of police avoided the clash between BJP and AAP supports outside the returning officers on Monday. Supports of BJP MLA Subhash Phal Dessai and AAP candidate Ravindra Velip were shouting their respective slogans when they were reached at the venue of the office of the returning officer at Quepem. Suddenly they starting approaching each other shouting slogans loudly but timely intervention of the police the groups were slowly dispersed. 


Cuncolim GVP candidate

Adv. John Monteiro is the Cuncolim candidate of Goa Vikas Party. John who was the State Convener of the Minority Committee of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has quit the Congress and officially inducted in GVP. The GVP has declared 5 candidates till now.
