The Directorate of Art and Culture will honour 17 persons from Goa for their achievements in the field of art and culture.
“This year the Directorate of Art & Culture will honour 17 eminent personalities in the field of Art & Culture by conferring the prestigious ‘Goa State Cultural Award’ for their contribution & achievements in their respective fields like ‘Music’,’ Drama/Tiatr’, ‘Folk Art’, ‘Bhajan’, ‘Kirtan’, ‘Craft’, ‘Literature’,’ Painting’ etc. The awards are for the year 2017-18.” said Gurudas P Pilarnekar, Director of Art and Culture.
“These awardees have set an example to the youth of Goa and are encouraging them by dedicating their life for promotion and preservation of art and culture of the state,” added Gurudas.The recipients of awards for the year 2017-18 are as follows: MadhumilanS.Naik (Music/lndian), RamkrishnaSurlakar (Music(Indian), Ganesh S.Parsekar (Bhajan), Dattaguru Abhyankar (Kirtan), PandharinathD.Lotlikar Literature(Konkani), Anjali R Amonkar (Literature/Marathi), HilarianoDcosta( Theatre /Tiatr), OsviS.G.L.Vegas (Theatre /Tiatr), Namdeo H. Shet (Theatre/Drama), lndumatiS.Mhalshi (Theatre/Drama), Dnyaneshwar P.Naik (Folk Art), Suryakant Rane (Folk Art), ShyamsunderGolatkar (Photography), Jagannath Wadji (Craft), GurunathKelekar (Literature & excellent work done on life of Mahatma Gandhi), Maya A. Kharangate (Literature /Marathi) and Maria de Lourdes F.F.Bravo Da Costa Rodrigues (Literature/English).
The Awards comprises of a cash purse of Rs.1,00,000/- each, a certificate, shrifal, Nataraj Replica and a shawl.“The Government also honours Best Cultural Institution, working in the field of Art & Culture every year,” added Gurudas.The Best Cultural Institution award for the year 2017-18 will be conferred on Dayanand Kala Kendra, Curchorem and Grupo Alegria Social & Cultural Association.The award consists of a Memento and Cash purse of Rs.3.00 Lakh each.
The Goa State Cultural Awards for Individuals and Best Cultural Institution will be presented to the awardees at a special function to be organized by the department. The date of the function will be declared by the department shortly.“Department of Art & Culture, Govt, of Goa, implements various schemes, projects, programmes for the benefit of artists and cultural institutions from the State of Goa and every effort is being made to promote and preserve the cultural traditions as well as new creativity in the field,” concluded Gurudas.
