Kattimani best in India: Hyderabad FC coach

Kattimani best in India: Hyderabad FC coach

The match will also see the reunion of many former teammates with the likes of Liston Colaco, Sahil Tavora, etc. But all eyes will be on Laxmikant Kattimani, the former FC Goa keeper who has seen a fine rise in his career after having suffered misery in previous years. He had many good games at Hyderabad FC though he had his bad moments.

Kattimani recorded five clean sheets in his 13 games letting in just 12. He is second among the keepers in terms of minutes per goal conceded with 97.5.

And for Hyderabad FC coach Manuel Marquez, Kattimani is one of the best keepers in India.

According to Marquez, it's the keeper’s confidence which has helped in reviving his own career back to life.

"Confidence is one aspect for a change. If you are confident you get the opportunity to get success," expressed Marquez.

Marquez stood in defence of Kattimani and said that stigma is another aspect that affects a players' career.

"You might do a lot but the one mistake which you commit might be remembered by everyone," he added.

"For me, Kattimani is a very good goalkeeper and best goalkeeper we can have in our team and for our way of play and we are safe with him. For me he is one of the best keepers in India," concluded Marquez.

While there would be many debates, but his record of conceding 12 goals in 13 games isn't as bad as FC Goa's Dheeraj Singh's 10 in 6 games. The former Goa custodian will hope to give his best and keep another clean sheet to help his team to progress into playoffs.
