Arunendra aka Arun Pandey, Director of Anyay Rahit Zindagi has a long history of working closely with the Goa Police in rescuing sex workers and prostitutes. His organization also counsels the girls and women before they’re taken to a protective home.

“On most occasions, the biggest shocker is the post-raid period we generally come across the same defaulter, the same solicitor, the promoter of flesh trade who is often raided in previous encounters. In India, prostitution is not taken as a serious crime," asserted Arun Pandey.

Arun explains how in a murder case, the weapon is uneartherned and for example if it’s a gun, the supplier of the gun, the owner of the gun, the maker of that gun and everybody is questioned and statements are recorded and taken to court but while busting a prostitution racket, the whole episode, it seems, ends with the raid and the real kingpin goes completely uninvestigated or probed.

While local Calangute MLA Michael Lobo explains that laws against prostitution are weak in India and the cops have to arrest "culprit(s)" red-handed while accepting payments for the flesh trade. Michael feels that Calangute citizens especially the women force need to step up to tackle the problem of sex trade within the area.

“Especially Calangute and entire Goa’s flesh trade has gone completely tech savvy, cashless, completely digital and available for public viewing online sites like Locanto and Goaqueens but the cops are not equipped in cyber security to curb  cybersex and cyber prostitution. It’s surprising that Goa, like many other states, is also reeling under prostitution while the cops are rendered toothless,” stated Pandey who’s about to release a nationwide survey on prostitution and its growing pockets across India.
