Review:
Tari (Satyawant Tari), simple and honest by nature, works for noted film star, Elvis. But his wife, Dacia (Dacia), is greedy for wealth and possessions. When she realises that her husband’s boss has made a will in Tari’s name, she can’t wait till the will becomes reality.
Dacia works out a wicked plan and decides to eliminate Elvis by hiring some goons. But in the conflict, Tari gets killed.
After taking necessary treatment, Elvis recovers, but with scars on his face. All the same, his girlfriend Meena accepts him, with the hope that he will return to stardom.
But will Meena’s father, who returns from overseas, accept Elvis as his future son-in-law? How does Meena react when Elvis decides to vacate her house? What is Elvis’s fate? Will Elvis and Meena’s union happen?
Calado de Verna’s Lenten show ‘Man of God’ throws light on the artistes performing on stage and screen, in various capacities. Be it in singing or acting, each of them make efforts to deliver something to the audience, thus serving as men of God.
There’s a good storyline, with various facts and figures on various incidents provided by the director in the role of a priest, but the delivery looks lengthy. The entire focus in the second half also moves towards the filmstar, with no mention about the fate of Dacia, who indirectly is responsible for the death of her husband.
The opening chorus rendered by Jr Reagan with reflection and a scene on St Francis Xavier, St Joseph Vaz and Ven Fr Agnelo during the interludes need to be appreciated. Biblical scenes have also been introduced in the show.
Satyawant Tari does justice to his dual roles and is ably assisted by Dacia. Peter de Pedda wins the hearts of the audience for his sober character in the second half. Meena looks cool in her role and delivers promptly. Agusto, as the goon and a little later as the doctor, is apt in his roles.
Caetano and Lino entertain in their comical characters and most of the references made are related to Lent or various practices in the Catholic religion.
In the category of songs, Peter de Pedda, Agusto, Dacia, Lino entertain with their solos, but two solos by Anthony San on Our Lady of Fatima and St Francis Xavier and a solo by Jr Reagan on priests stand out among the rest.
